  • Word from the Director

“Change,” a word that often stirs feelings of apprehension but can be a catalyst for restoration. Whether it's restoring a place, repairing a damaged relationship, or rebuilding a community organization; change is necessary because it initiates processes of healing, renewal, and rebuilding. Ultimately, leading to a group of individuals who provide commitment, talent, time, resources and HOPE.

I believe this is our time for change as an organization, and as a community. The rich legacy of John Hope Settlement House has made me hopeful and humble. Many have already asked, “Dr. Frye how can I help?” “What do you need?” and we are grateful for the support and encouragement we’ve received thus far. I knew this would be quite an undertaking. But I am more committed than ever! Our building and calendar is filling with educational, health services, trainings, open recreational time, sports leagues and we are ready to boost enrollment at our Early Learning Center and Out of School Time programs.

I am proud to lead this work because I know the community, made up of generations who have history with John Hope, are here to help and a wonderful staff who love John Hope! Change has been activated and restoration has begun. It’s not too late to join us in restoring John Hope to its former glory and beyond. I HOPE you’ll join us!
